Street Machine Australia — January 2018

(Romina) #1

IF YOU can make it to Canberra for Thursday it’s well worth
the effort. First off you get to see some of the best cars in
the land cruising up and down Northbourne Ave in the City
Cruise. Each year the authorities have been letting wilder and
wilder cars join the cruise, so you can expect to see quite a
few blown and injected monsters rolling along with the more
sedate machines that make up the bulk of the cruisers. Once
you’re inside EPIC, you’ll be able to have an even closer look
with a lot fewer people blocking the view.
That’s awesome if you like checking out cars while they’re
parked up, but if your main reason for going to Summernats
is because you hate tyres, then you won’t want to miss the
Last-Chance Wildcard Burnouts. Some of the best tyre killers
in the land will be letting it all hang out in a last-ditch effort
to qualify for the Masters event. If they don’t qualify, don’t
worry – you’ll still see them again in the regular burnout comp.
Once the smoke clears, it’ll be time to relax, kick back and
prepare yourself for three more days of horsepower, rock
’n’ roll and tyre smoke while you head to the drive-in movie.

Note: Some outside exhibitors open. Pavilions open from
12pm.
