3 YOU’RE LOST (AND LOOK IT)
Pickpockets pick on the distracted.
They also keep an eye out for people
who clearly are unfamiliar with
the area, which is why they’re
notorious for operating in tourist
spots. If you have your head glued
to Google Maps, pickpockets will
take advantage of your distraction
to swipe something from you. Even
when you’re unsure of where you are,
try your best to appear confident and
stay aware of your surroundings.

1 YOU DISPLAY YOUR WEALTH
Pickpockets like to target wealthy
people. Shuffling through a large wad
of cash is an excellent way to attract
their attention. If you’re travelling to
an area that’s known for pickpockets,
leave your fancy jewellery and
designer watches at home.

2 YOU CHECK ON YOUR WALLET
If you see a sign to beware of
pickpockets, your first instinct might
be to reach down and feel for your
wallet. But this protective measure
can backfire, as potential thieves will
know where you keep your valuables.
