that Tay don a
red-hot wig to

SHE’S BACK ON TOP
After her extended hiatus, the singer surprised
fans by attending the 2018 Billboard Music
Awards, marking her irst major awards show
and red carpet appearance since 2016. ‘My irst
award show in a few years and it was so much
fun,’ she gushed, despite making her entrance
without her usual squad of It girl pals.
With a new album, a British Vogue cover,
an app called he Swift Life (complete with
‘Taymojis’) and a world tour underway, it’s
safe to say that this is well and truly the pop
princess’ comeback year. And this time, she’s
returning on her own terms.

HITTING THE ROAD
‘Fact: I’ve never been more excited about
a tour than I am about this one,’ Tay spills.
But she’s not just using her stage time to
entertain her adoring Swifties – she’s
also setting the record straight.
‘A couple of years ago, someone
called me a snake on social
media and it caught on.
And then a lot of people
called me a lot of names on
social media. And I went
through some really low times
for a while because of it,’ Taylor told the crowd
during the opening night of her tour. ‘I went
through some times when I didn’t know if
I was gonna get to do this anymore. I wanted
to send a message to you guys that if someone
uses name-calling to bully you on social
media, and even if a lot of people jump on
board with it, that doesn’t have to beat you.
It can strengthen you instead.’

Maintaining her optimism, the star added,
‘I think something that came out of it that was
good, is that I learnt a really important lesson
that I’ve been telling you from the stage for
about 10 years, but I never had to learn it so
harshly myself. And that lesson has to do with
how much you value your reputation.’

LOVE-LIFE ON THE DOWNLOW
hese days, Taylor is a new woman – and a
woman very much in love! Still, she’s playing
her romance with Joe Alwyn close to her
chest. Tay’s been dating the 27-year-old
British actor for more than a year now – and
he gets the tick of approval from her bestie Ed

Sheeran! ‘He’s really nice. Really, really friendly,
a really good dude,’ Ed conirms, while her gal
pal Selena Gomez gushes, ‘If my friends are
happy, that makes me happy. hat’s all
I care about. So, I’m super stoked, too.’
After a string of very public romances – and
splits – it’s no surprise Tay’s keeping this one on
the DL as she navigates this new phase in her
life. ‘I think that the lesson is that you shouldn’t
care so much if you feel misunderstood by
a lot of people who don’t know you,’ she says.
‘As long as you feel understood by the people
who do know you – the people who will show
up for you, the people who see you as
a human being.’
