“For professional-
looking root
coverage, apply
colour to the roots
first, then through
the rest of the hair”

    Blur Concealer, $12.99. Dye: Clairol
    Nice’n Easy Root Touch-Up, $12.59. Spray:
Oribe Airbrush Root Touch-Up Spray, $44.

BLACK
Think glam-goth. “We’ll
be seeing emerald green
reflects placed through
the lengths or throughout
the hair,” says Solier.

REDHEAD
It’s all about the
redhead this season.
“Spring will start with
the warmer shades like
strawberry red, and then
move to cool reds like true
ruby and rich wine reds,”
explains Solier.

The numbers on the box
refer to base and reflect
tones. “The number before
the decimal point is the
base shade pigment and
gives the depth and grey
coverage, and numbers
after the point are colour
tones,” explains Tapp. If you
have lots of greys you’ll get
better coverage using
a base shade, like an 8,
or a shade with just one
reflect, such as an 8.3.

THE IT-COLOUR
“Blorange is going to be
the big colour,” predicts
Solier. “More peachy
than rose gold, you can
go vibrant and really
stand out, or work with
more wearable pastel
peachy shades.”

BLONDE
Solier’s picks for
the season are
bright, nude, creamy
blondes, with
shadowing techniques
used to create extra
levels of dimension
and softness.

Q

“Depending on your hair colour,
you’re likely to need two colours,
a pre-lightener and then platinum,”
explains Tapp. “But if you have dark
hair, go to the salon.” Right: L’Oréal
Paris Colorista Bleach, $18.95.
