- How was the sightseeing?
“What’s fascinating about Cuba right
now is that commercialization hasn’t hit
yet; there’s no signage or big McDonald’s
logos anywhere,” says Davison. “All the old
buildings look frozen in time, including
Ernest Hemingway’s house [right], where
I bu mp e d i nt o G i s e le Bü ndc he n!”
What do you wear in steamy
88-degree Cuba? “White cotton
shirts are my staple,” says
Davison, above, styling a Chanel
look. “They were perfect.”
- Now confess: Any good people-watching?
Lagerfeld is genius at mixing chic up-and-comers, like new Chanel
ambassador Willow Smith, with legendary muses at his seasonal specta-
cles. “Gisele glided into the show, as she does, along with Tilda Swinton,”
says Davison. “Model Stella Tennant walked the runway, and Vanessa
Paradis danced with Karl during the after-party. Little-known fact: Karl
Lagerfeld was once a Latin-dance champion!”

“With classic American cars—you
see them everywhere in the city—
our pictures were like movie
stills,” says Davison of shooting in
the streets of Old Havana.
