When Shannon, 31, began planning her intimate Bali wedding to Dane, 28, neither of them knew she’d found a

new vocation. ‘I was on non-stop wedding research the whole time. I was addicted to wedding blogs and all things

bridal — now I have my own wedding planning business!’ says the bride who filled the day with DIY touches.

THE LOOK ‘I tried on a lot of
different styles to see what suited
me but my dress was nothing like I
had in mind at the start,’ says
Shannon who’s Brides Desire
structured gown featured a drop
waist and sweetheart neckline with
vintage style bead detailing. The
bride handmade all the wedding
stationery including the
wedding programs that
doubled as
fans to stave off the
sultry Bali weather.

IN BLOOM The bride
carried a bouquet
brimming with
hydrangea, roses and
dusty miller while baby’s
breath was a feature on the
reception tables. ‘I have a massive
peony crush but they were so
expensive to import into Bali and
they wouldn’t have survived the
heat,’ says Shannon whose florist
sourced similar, locally grown
alternatives that were easier on the
hip pocket. Guests gorged on a
decadent red velvet buttercream
cake, made by local company Ixora.
‘I found their work online alongside
fabulous reviews,’ says Shannon.

Multi-purpose styling
elements simplify
planning and save
costs. Programs could
double as fans or
bomboniere as
place cards.
