Elizabeth, 29, and Grant, 33, were sent on a blind date by friends. ‘We both felt an immediate connection,’ says

Elizabeth, who was, ‘impressed by his ability to create a casual but authentic Greek picnic’. Picnics have featured

a lot in their relationship: a year after meeting, Grant proposed while picnicking in the gardens of Versaille.

GRAND DESIGNS Elizabeth and Grant’s wedding took on the theme of
grand, classic architecture: ‘We like classic and timeless style
choices,’ says Elizabeth, ‘and we were influenced by our
experiences together as a couple, such as getting engaged at
Versailles. This is why we chose City Hall as our venue, mixed
with greenery and topiaries that mirrored the feeling of the
Versailles gardens. These influences carried through to all the
other details, such as our invitations, flowers and furniture.’
Elizabeth had also gone on venue reconnaissance to City Hall
with her father, John, who died only a few weeks later.
Knowing that her father had pictured their wedding there, made
it impossible for Elizabeth to choose anywhere else to host their
big day. The couple hired White + White Weddings and Events and
Styled Events to, respectively, plan and style their wedding.
