TOWERS OF FLOWERS Where
their ceremony had been strongly
green themed, their reception was
a burst of colour. Table centres
took topiary to another level:
Sandee, of Always Fabulous
Flowers, had created tall
arrangements of roses and
carnations in graduating pink
tones. On the larger centrepieces
these flowers climbed a cylindrical
base and culminated in a large
ball of blooms. ‘When Grant and I
walked into the reception room
we were absolutely blown away,’
says Elizabeth.
WORLD VIEW Grant’s speech
spoke eloquently to her, says
Elizabeth. ‘Just before proposing a
toast to me, his new wife, he quoted
one of my favourite sentiments:
“Remember, to the world you are
just one person, but to one person
you are the world.” He then made a
toast, “To my wife and my world, to
Elizabeth.”’ Elizabeth’s sister,
Catherine, spoke on behalf of the
Raptis family and particularly their
father, and made everyone laugh
and cry, before the cutting
of the couple’s towering
seven-tier cake. ‘The
flavour is called “Delish”’
explains Elizabeth, ‘It’s
almond sponge,
sandwiched with
chocolate ganache,
nougat cream, almond
crackling and chopped,
candied orange.’ If the
cake was a sugar rush,
the seven-piece Rush
Band soon put that
energy to work, and the
couple showed off their
moves learned at
Perry’s Dance
Academy. Their life
together began with a
honeymoon in Italy.
