SARAH, EDITOR OF BRIDE TO BE
Length of trial: Six months, and two
sessions (12 to 13 weeks apart).
The lowdown: Cool Sculpting professes to
be the answer to that annoying trouble
maker, aka Stubborn Fat. It uses ‘controlled
cooling’ to target and eradicate fat cells,
claiming to remove 25 per cent of the cells in
a treated area. A large oval-shaped cup (they
have various sizes for different parts of the
body) uses a vacuum to pull in the area of fat
and then the two panels each side cool the
area at a temperature that freezes the fat
cells. The ‘crystalised’ cells then die and are
removed naturally by the body. This is not
something that will work on large amounts of
fat, but rather is perfect for a little extra belly
post-baby or some not-so-lovely love
handles. It can also be used for fat deposits
on the arms, legs and back.
A typical session: You’ll have pictures taken
or a measure up to document your ‘before’
and then hop onto a bed, where the machine
is attached to your problem area and left to
work its magic for an hour. During that time
you can kick back and look at your ipad. I had
the treatment done at the Facial Rejuvenation
Clinic (thefacialrejuvenationclinic.com.au).
The verdict: It was quick and relatively
painless as treatments go, but nothing can
quite prepare you for the way the treated part
of your body (for me, the stomach) feels after
the machine comes off. The only way I can
describe it is... ‘gelato’. While you’ll be in and
out of the clinic in an hour, the results take a
few months to show. Understandably,
because Cool Sculpting relies on the body to
expell the fat cells that it has crystalised, it
takes a while to see results, but eventually
you start to see the fat subsiding. Because of
the timing (and particularly if you’re having to
think about dress fittings) this is something
you need to plan ahead with - ideally nine
months out from the wedding.
Intensity rating: 5/10 – Connecting the
Cool Sculpting machine (with its vacuum) to
your stomach and then taking it off again is
slightly uncomfortable, but the other 55
minutes of treatment are a breeze. There
was some slight brusing on the treated
area that showed up a few days after, but
then disappeared within the week.
Results: The best way to measure the
difference (with a stomach especially) is by
the change in how your clothes feel. My jeans
were starting to fall off me after the second
treatment and there was a visable reduction
in my stomach at the six month mark.
Cost: $950 per treatment for the first two,
$850 for the third and $750 for any further.

BIANCA, STYLE EDITOR OF BRIDE TO BE
Length of trial: 20 days - although the company have various programs on offer.
The lowdown: The month leading up to the special day is by far the busiest, with
most brides too stressed and time poor to focus on meal planning. During this
period they are more likely to skip meals or make bad food choices, which is why the
20 Day Eat Fit Food Overhaul is so fantastic. Eat Fit Food do all the hard work for
you, delivering their healthy meals to your front door every day. The time, energy and
money a bride can save lets her devote herself to planning the big day and
honeymoon ahead. The program focuses on eating the right portion sizes, healthy
wholefoods and creating meal patterns. If weight loss is the aim, the 20 Day
Overhaul will kick start this process through an all-inclusive low calorie diet. On
average, participants lose 4-6 kilograms providing they follow the Eat Fit Food
guidelines and weight loss tips.
A typical day: A day starts with a freshly made juice and a glass of warm water with
a squeeze of lemon, followed by three healthy portion controlled meals for breakfast,
lunch and dinner, plus two snacks.
The verdict: This program was a great way to lose weight while enjoying the
benefits of healthy wholefoods that made me feel full of energy. I didn’t need to think
about what I was eating for any of my meals and I knew that everything was fresh,
the right portion and good for me, which made the process so easy. I incorporated
exercise and was sure to drink two litres of water every day to keep myself hydrated,
as well as following the other suggested health tips. At the end of the 20 days I felt
revitalised and ready to incorporate Eat Fit Food’s changes into my diet.
Intensity rating: 3/10 - the program was easy, with all meals delivered to my front
door. It was perfect for my busy working life!
Results: After one week of the program I felt I had a lot more energy and noticed
that I was losing weight. At the end of the 20 days I had a total weight loss of three
kilograms with the added bonus of a healthy glow, and feeling full of energy.
Cost: The Eat Fit Food 20 Day Overhaul is $1,340.
