pile of gifts given to couples on their
wedding day. But glassware became
notorious as a present with a short life span
— you were lucky to still have two out of a
dozen champagne flutes left intact by the
time it came to toast your third anniversary.

ranges. Tom Groundes-Peace, glassware

stems that resist breaking, and the glass itself
keeps its crystalline clarity (aka sparkle) even
after going through the dishwasher
2,000 times or more.Choose a classic range, such as
Michelangelo, and it’s likely you’ll always be
able to buy more if you need to — it’s been
made for 25 years and is still a best seller.
Tom also emphasises that, ‘The most
important thing when you’re actually
drinking from a glass is that you enjoy the
wine. Luigi Bormioli glasses have a fine rim
that drops the wine onto the palate where it
will most be enjoyed.’ He says thicker rims
are more haphazard in their delivery.
And, Tom adds, although restaurants
and cafes are everywhere, entertaining at
home has become more popular.
