Clip the corners and turn each

panel right side out. Press the

seams neatly so only one fabric

is visible from either side. You

should now have two side panels

(Bird and Cat panels), a back

panel (Dog panel) and two door

panels, all lined.

Carefully cut squares

from the interior walls to

match the exterior window cut-

outs on the Bird and Cat panels.

Clip the inside corners of all the

seam allowances at a 45-degree

angle. Press under^11 ⁄ 4 in on all four

sides of the window opening

on both the exterior and interior

fabrics – all the edges should

align. Pin them together.

Press under^1 ⁄ 4 in on both

long edges on all of the

windowpane strips you cut in

Step 4. Fold each strip in half,

wrong sides together and long

folded edges matching, and press.

Top stitch down both long edges

of each strip.

Use matching windowpane

strips for each window. Find

the centre point of each side of

the fi rst window opening. Insert

a windowpane strip between the

layers of the exterior and interior

walls at the centre top and bottom

and pin it in place. Repeat this

step to pin the remaining strip

horizontally across the opening;

the two strips will cross in the

centre of the window opening.

opening close to the folded

edges, securing the windowpane

strips between the folded edges
