ALL-CONSUMING CROCHET
This magic dragon blanket is the work of MJs Off The Hook Designs
(www.mjsoff thehookdesigns.com) and is a sister crochet project to
a shark and mermaid. Snuggling into this friendly monster’s soft
jaws on a cold night would be irresistible for a child. The design
cocoons the lower body but opens up to lie across the torso. Its
creator says it can take as little as 10 hours to make (but she has
YouTube videos to help if you are having diff iculty crocheting it).

MAKE THE MOST
OF FAT QUARTERS
Ever wondered how many squares you can cut
from a fat quarter? Check this simple guide.
A typical metric fat quarter measures 50 x 53cm
(19^11 ⁄^2 x 21in), and the following figures are based on
that size. Most also apply to imperial fat quarters
(46 x 53cm/18 x 21in) and 112cm- (44in-) wide fabric
and variations* are given below.
* You can only cut 6 x 6
(^1) ⁄ 2 insquares from an imperial fat
quarter. If the fabric width is 112cm (44in), you can cut 12 x
51 ⁄ 2 in squares and a whopping 99 x 2in squares. No allowance
is made for frayed or crooked fabric that needs trimming first.
