LEANNE’S TRIMMING
TIPIf you trim the half-square triangle
units before opening the square, you’ll only
need to do two cuts instead of four. A small
square quilter’s ruler is best to use, although
you can use larger rectangular rulers, too
- they’re just a bit unwieldy. Position the
ruler on the fabric so that 5^11 ⁄ 2 in marks on two
adjacent edges lie on the end of the seam
line of your unit – NOT on the edge of the
fabric – and trim the two sides, as shown in
Diagram 3. For trimming the small units used
in the border corners, position the ruler with
the 3in marks on the seam line.
LEANNE’S
BINDING
TIP Roll up
your prepared
binding and pop
it on a spare
spool holder on
your machine. It
makes machine
binding so much
easier when it’s
not caught up
amongst the quilt
