Innovative design The exterior of the rear of the house was painted black,
but no one was worried that the colour would overheat the home. High-tech
insulation that looks like a foil quilt, from Kingspan Insulation, was used in the
walls, and scissor trusses on the pitched roof that are lined on the inside,
leaving an air gap between ceiling and roof to ensure passive insulation.
Joint project While Carole focused on the interiors, her partner at Whiting
Architects, Steven, designed the building. They teamed with JNC Precision
