DON’T HAVE A DOLLAR IN THE BANK?
TRY OUT ONE OF THESE COOL IDEAS:

1

Raid your mum’s pantry at home and host a baking
party at yours. Fun fact: free baked treats will taste
100 per cent more delicious than goodies from a cafe.

2

This one’s for you adventure fans. Look up an epic
bushwalking track, pack a good lunch and some
snacks and turn nature girl for the day. We’ve tried this
one ourselves and it’s become a bit of a thing at DOLLY.

3

Look up a YouTube yoga class (try one by eFit30,
youtube.com/user/efit30). Meet your pals in
the park for a sesh. Take protein bliss balls as areward.

FREE FUN TIMES

Every time your friend off ers
to pay for something, they act
all angry afterwards even
though they said it was fi ne.
THE SOLUTION: The way people treat money can
be a bit of a riddle. If your friend isn’t assertive enough to
come out and tell you their feelings, base your behaviour
on how you feel. If their angry response makes you feel
awkward, stop them from paying even when they offer.
TRY THIS LINE: ”I don’t want you to pay, I know you say
it’s fine but I feel uncomfortable anyway, so let me get it.“ b

Your friend can’t aff ord your group's
weekend plans and you’re kind of
worried she might feel left out.
THE SOLUTION: This one’s easy! If you know that
she’s tight on money at the moment, make plans for some
free fun later that week (see below for our suggestions).
Also, make sure you’ve got a mix of plans with your
group that aren’t always so pricey. Maybe others are
struggling with cash too but just haven’t said anything.
TRY THIS LINE: “It is a shame that you can’t come,
I’d love to see you there and it won’t be the same without
you. But don’t worry, it’s no biggy. We can catch up this
week. How about we go to [insert fun free event here]?”

You can’t aff ord to
go to an exy concert
all of your pals bought tickets
for and you don’t want to look lame.
THE SOLUTION: Remember, if your friends are going
to judge you because you don’t have the same amount
of cash as they do, they are pretty mean mates to have!
TRY THIS LINE: ”Sorry, I would really like to go with you
but I just don’t have the cashflow right now.” Or if you feel
really self-conscious about the situation, make up a little
white lie and say you’re busy with a family thing that night.
