LOVING
Unless you’re decorating a room from
scratch, you need to consider the other
furniture items and surfaces you have in
the space. Make sure your wall colour is
harmonious with the other hues in the room,
be they in furniture, flooring or artworks.
And, yes, you should limit the number of
“feature” colours in a room. Generally
three is the limit, but again, it depends on
how you want the room to feel. Wendy says
if you want the room to feel light, go
for only one colour on walls, skirting and
windows. If you want the room to feel
darker, dramatic or cosy, “using two
paint colours works to create contrast and
highlight architectural features, without
fighting with other styled elements and
furniture,” Wendy adds. But above all, go
with your instincts. It’s your space and it
should make you feel happy to be in it. R
