Zebras and tigers and snakes... oh my! 3
You can sculpt any animal with regular, everyday
aluminium foil. Yep! To make them, tear sheets
of foil and start crushing, bending and twisting
to form your animal shape. Add more foil for
features like a long neck, extra legs or wings.
Once you’re happy with the general shape, wrap
the entire animal with short strips of masking
tape. Use a brush and plenty of Mod Podge to
cover it with small pieces of tissue paper. Once
dry, paint with acrylic paint to add details. Let dry.

Diary of a
Wimpy Kid:
Double
Down
By Jeff Kinney
(from $14.99, Viking)
In the 11th book of the
bestselling Diary of a Wimpy
Kid series, main character
Greg Heffley decides to
make a movie to stop his
mum hassling him about
playing too many video
games. He also joins the
school band for one reason:
to get an invite to Mariana
Mendoza’s Halloween party.
Word is she’s only inviting
the band. But then Greg
finds out she’s limiting it to
the woodwind section only!
Greg’s solution? To sneak
in dressed as a two-headed
monster with his clarinet-
playing friend Rowley! I don’t
want to give too much away,
so you’ll just have to read it!

Need a spot to stash all your stuff?
Rescue a stack of clean containers with lids
from your recycling bin then wrap them in colourful gift-wrapping,
sticking down the paper at the back with a glue stick. Cut a series
of shapes to look like monster eyes, mouths, tongues, teeth and
eyebrows using offcuts of contrasting papers. Glue them in place,
let dry then load up your cool containers with all your goodies.
