Create your very own
‘great wall of china’
- more really is more!
Let’s get social
Turn a narrow wall into a
communication hub. Install
shallow caddies and a
bulletin board to provide
extra storage for magazines,
newspapers, letters, bills
and invitations without
taking up any floor space.
Have your kitchen cabinet-
maker build it along with
your new kitchen, call a
carpenter or handy person
or give it a go yourself.
Island upgrade
A salvaged slab of
granite (search Gumtree
for offcuts) onto a hall
or side table and it
instantly becomes a
kitchen island! Need it
to double as a breakfast
bar? Just ensure the
slab overhangs equally
around all sides. PS,
attach swing arm hooks
to a leg or one side
for tea towels. You can
source similar vintage
hooks at etsy.com.
Gotta love a mug
Who would have thought ordinary – or not so
ordinary – mismatched mugs or teacups could look
so good? Like the idea? Have a handyman rig up a
similar display unit you can paint, stain or leave as
is if using reclaimed timbers, as here. Top up your
‘collection’ with a trip to your nearest charity shop.
