fashion label might be famous for its unique
prints and hipster shapes, McClean’s taste in
interiors also incorporates some more classic
elements. “I love monochrome mixed with
timber and tropical plants, which I think
breathe life into a room,” she says. “Then
it’s about using our favourite antiques, tribal
treasures and pop art to tie all of it together.”
Although the family’s beloved shack looks
picture-perfect for this shoot, McClean isn’t
done with the renovating yet. She’s been
tinkering with the house since she moved
in nine years ago and is still bursting with
ideas. “I work a lot from home, so spending so
much time here means I tend to change
it around a lot. Requesting to repaint the
house or extend a room – it drives my family
crazy. But that’s the beauty of purchasing
something that’s old,” she laughs.
Having her own label, with its seasonal
collections and campaign shoots, also helps
her justify some new additions to her interiors.
“I buy things for a shoot with the intention of
it later becoming a special piece at home,”
she says. Sounds like the kind of creative
accounting we can get behind.
