PARTY-HOPPING
When to stay and when to leave

STAY: The self-appointed
DJ just started playing
obscure ’90s bangers.
LEAVE: You don’t know
many people there, and
your friends are at another
party across town.

STAY: You’re tipsy enough
to feel like MJ on the dance
floor, sober enough not to
attempt the Moonwalk.
LEAVE: Everything is a bit
blurry, and that last shot
isn’t going down too well.

STAY: It’s almost midnight
and the chances of you
screaming “Happy New
Year!” from a taxi are
high if you leave now.
LEAVE: They’re out of booze.

Last-minute fixes if you’re stuck on what to wear to a 2016-themed New Year’s bash

NYE EDITION

  1. You know those
    OTT glitter eye
    makeup looks you
    re-’gram but don’t
    think you could ever
    pull off? Well, as Rod
    Stewart would say,
    tonight’s the night.

  2. Mix edible glitter
    into cocktails. Sure,
    this one’s not exactly
    rest-of-the-year

unfriendly but it’s
really only worth the
effort, and expense,
this one time.

  1. Throwing a house
    party? Sprinkle it on
    tables and benchtops
    for added fun (note:
    ensure you own
    a vacuum before
    committing to this).

  2. Keep a zip-lock
    bag full of sparkles
    in your party purse,
    and throw a handful
    on unsuspecting
    NYE grinches. Jerks.

Four ways to use glitter that are only
appropriate on December 31

MARIAH-APPROVED POUR UP
How to build a six-layer
champagne tower... because
that shit is impressive

YOU’LL NEED:
A SOLID TABLE
91 IDENTICAL CHAMPAGNE COUPES
A FEW BOTTLES OF CHAMPAGNE

  1. Start with a square
base of six glasses by six
    glasses. Make sure all
    the glasses are placed
    evenly and snug – the
    rims should be touching,
    with a diamond-like
    shape between each
    set of four glasses.

  2. When starting the next
    layer, place the glasses
    directly on top of the
    diamond-like gaps so
    they’re centred. This
    square will be five-by-five
    glasses. Continue onto
    the next layer, four-by-
    four, then three-by-three,
    two-by-two and the
    lucky last coupe on top.

  3. To pour, start slow
    or the champagne will
    splash everywhere. Once
    the novelty has worn off
    and everyone wants their
    fizz, have someone else
fill the glasses at the side
    that didn’t catch the
    champagne. Dismantle
    from the top down.
