W

hat is Baphomet?”
After being arrested
on Friday the 13th of
October in 1307, the
Knights Templar were often asked
this question. The Knights were
said to have worshipped this idol,
a black statue with three faces
andabeard.Lateron,Baphomet

believeditwasmorethananidol:
They were certain Baphomet was
a code—which concealed
thesourceofthepower
of the Templars. Though
many of the Knights did

sodomy and blasphemy
whiletheyweretortured,
nothing was discovered
regarding the Baphomet
code. It was uncrackable
for centuries, until finally
historians found out that
Baphomet is a common

regional name for the founder of
Islam: Muhammad. So, did the
Christian Templars worship the
Muslim prophet? That’s doubtful,
but they likely admired him. That’s
because the Knights Templar and
the Muslims were not as hostile to
each other as the Church depicted.
Instead, the Templars adapted the
Arabs’ technology and knowledge
and made these their own. In this
way the Knights became the most
powerful entity in Europe—up until
they were destroyed because of it.

Is there a

secret ALIEN

MESSAGE

hidden in the

Wow! signal?

A

ll day long, astronomer Jerry
Ehman had sat and listened
to the monotonous sound of
space via the Big Ear radio
telescope at Ohio State University—
until suddenly, at 11:16P.M., the printer
sprang to life and numbers and letters
beganappearingonthepapersheets.
The radio signal was coming from far
away in space. On the
printout Ehman circled
the decisive frequency
code—6EQUJ5—and
wrote“Wow!”nexttoit.
More than 38 years
have passed since that
night—and the “Wow!
signal” still hasn’t been
deciphered. The only
certaintyisthesignal
came from the direction
of the constellation of
Sagittarius—from up to
200 light-years away.
Physicist Harald Lesch
says, “Never before and never again
could anything like this be measured.”
The frequency of the signal is striking:
It was 1420.456 MHz—which is rather
suspicious for scientists. The reason:
It’s near the hydrogen line that indicates
changesinhydrogen’senergystate,and
thismakesitlikelythatthetransmission
camefrombeyondoursolarsystem.It’s
asignthatpointstoanintelligentsender.
But if the sender really is an intelligent
being,itwillhavetowaitalongtimefor
a reply: The interstellar radio message
took 122 years to make it to Earth.

VOICE FROM
THE DEEP
The universe is
never really
silent. However,
the Wow! signal
was 30 times
louder than the
normal noise
level in the uni-
verse.
