B
edheads really finish a bedroom, giving the bed a sense of
place. they inform the style and palette of the room in one
considered statement. Whether your style is minimalist or
eclectic, there is a bedhead to suit. think low lines, slubby linen
and a raw-edged flange, or a bold statement, as seen above in
a hotel room by decorating doyenne Kit Kemp. consider high
and wide padded panels and contrast piping or decorative studs,
overlocked leather slung from bridle brackets or soap-waxed
timber... the devil’s (always) in the detail, so get inspired, think
bespoke and bon chic your bedroom.

Fresh ideas and easy updates
✚ i love an ombré effect: use linens in the same colour but in
contrasting light and dark hues for the bedhead and border.
✚ For an element of farmhouse chic, add oversized iron studs
to the outside edges of a bedhead covered in plain linen.
✚ a stitched leather panel slung from bridle brackets (below
left) is cool and classic with a witty twist.
✚ Fit a loose cover (below right) to change your bedroom
mood with the seasons and launder with ease.
Let the material – fabric, leather,
timber, cane, rattan – inspire the form
and detail of your bedhead.
