ON HER

WITH DEAN

been unfaithful while she was pre-
occupied caring for their two small
children Finn and Hattie, who were
born within 10 months of each other.
The emotional damage done by the
affair played out on her reality show,
True Tori, and many friends and fans
thought the formerBeverly Hills,
90210 star would leave her husband.
Actually Spelling says she “never for a
moment” wanted to end things. “Ev-
eryone was saying, ‘Divorce him! Why
is she staying with him? That is weak.’
But my gut instincts just shut it all out,
and I said, ‘I love this man. If there is a
way to work it out, I want to try to do
that.’ ” The couple underwent intense
marriage counseling, and McDermott
entered rehab for sex addiction. “We
worked on everything,” says Spelling.
“The relationship as we knew it died.
We had to bury that and start new.”
The couple say Spelling ’s fifth preg-
nancy came as an unplanned surprise
after they had made up. But Beau has
come to symbolize that fresh start.
“Rebuilding our marriage took time,” she says.
“And now, having a new baby, it makes sense. It’s
like a new baby in a new relationship.” McDermott
fights back tears talking about it. “I am so blessed
and lucky that she never walked away, because
now we have this incredible relationship,” he says,
“and I can’t imagine life without Beau.”

For Spelling the ease of her latest pregnancy was
a pleasant surprise. (During her fourth the star
dealt with placenta previa, a dangerous condition
in which the placenta blocks the cervix.) “I forgot
how much I loved being pregnant,” says Spelling.
“I love the connection. You are never alone.” Beau’s
March 2 delivery via C-section was also relief after
the doctor-ordered bed rest and the complications
she endured while carrying Finn. That ordeal also
rendered her unable to care for Hattie, who was still
an infant. Now Spelling and McDermott are even

considering whether or not they may want yet an-
other child. “All my kids have their little pair, so I
would be open to one more,” says Spelling. “But
whatever is meant to be is meant to be.”
The only hiccup came when it was time to
choose the baby’s name. “This was the first time
we couldn’t agree on one in advance,” says Spell-
ing. But when she first laid eyes on her son, she
settled on the name Beau, and McDermott liked
the choice. His middle name, Dean, honors her re-
newed commitment to her husband. “We’ve come
so far in our relationship, and I am so proud of the
man Dean has become in this family,” says Spell-
ing. “I want Beau to be proud of his father.”
At around 3 p.m. the four older kids arrive home
from school, and the house erupts into disorder
once more. “I could have never imagined having a
family like this,” says Spelling. “I’m grateful for feel-
ing like Ideserve to have all of this. I can’t picture it
any other way and wouldn’t change a thing.”•
