Australian Knitting 11
One of our favourite knitting
designers, Anne Hanson, is the
owner of popular blog Knitspot
and the creator behind the indie
yarn company, Bare Naked Wools.
Hanson learnt to knit and sew
at a young age and went on
to work as a stitcher, tailor and
patternmaker in the costume and
garment industry. Combining her
professional training with her
love for knitting, Hanson was
encouraged by other designers
to explore a new career path. By
experimenting with innovative
ideas and developing her skills
over many years, Hanson
succeeded in becoming a
professional knitwear designer.
Hanson’s blog, Knitspot,
allows readers to learn more
about knitting, spinning and
design. The blog explores a
variety of fibres and colours and
showcases Hanson’s stunning
designs. Yarns featured on the
website include a selection of
hand dyed choices from familiar
Knitspot favourites as well as
new collaborating artists. A
range of yarn weights and luxury
fibre blends (mostly animal
fibres) are represented.

DESIGNER TO WATCH –
Anne Hanson
some fashionable layers to keep you
warm this winter. Wear this poncho
over a dark long-sleeved shirt and
knee-high boots to look effortlessly
chic. Featuring a lovely pattern and
turtleneck, this piece is for knitters at
an intermediate skill level.
F977 Women’s Sweater
by Filatura Di Crosa
Continuing to be inspired by the
popular layered look, we are currently
loving this sweater by Filatura Di
Crosa. With a short torso and mid-
length sleeves, this project is so very
stylish. The textured pattern of this
sweater helps create interest and
would look fabulous in an array of
winter shades - we would love to
see it in a navy blue! Knitters should
definitely give this sweater a go.
N1351 Cropped Poncho

This adorable cropped poncho is a
new pattern from Naturally Yarns.
Pair this poncho with dark jeans for a
casual look, or with a sleek dress for
night time occasions. Knit this garment
in a neutral grey for a wardrobe staple,
or make it a fashion statement with a
bright cobalt blue.Q
