“Marriage equality is inevitable,” says
Waleed Aly. “So the question becomes:
Will this change happen harmoniously
or with a whole lot of needless acrimony?”
Aly is hoping for the former. The co-host
of The Project has many gay friends and
colleagues and understands how crucial
the issue has become. “When my friends
talk about marriage and how much
marriage equality means to them, you
can see the pain on their faces. That’s not
something you can argue with,” he says.
“The government is in a position now
to eliminate that pain.”
