MATTER
Think relaxation and you probably think
massages, spa baths and infi nite naps –
but it doesn’t have to be that way. If you
fi nd it hard to sit back and, well, fl op,
American researchers reckon you should
take time to do something that interests
you. Apparently, when you’re tasked with
a frustrating sitch, doing something that
both appeals to and engages you can help
keep you cool, calm and collected. The
researchers found that when people spent
time completing interesting tasks, their
energy sources were refuelled (despite
the fact they were using their noggin).
Love crossword puzzles or reading up on
astronomy? Add them to your to-do list.
You’ll feel better (and calmer) for it.
