“Ihaddreamingsaboutitbutit’stakenalongtime,”
admits Tognetti of the shaping of the score. “It’s very
hard to take an extant piece of music and craft it to a
film, so with the classical music – the Vivaldi, Beethovenetc.–Iwouldgivethattothedirectors[Peedomand
Ozturk]andgetthemtocraftthefilmaroundthemusic.
Whereasifyouarecomposingmusic,youcraftitaround
thefilm.Thereisabigdifference.”
Asforhisoriginalcompositions,hesays:“Someof
themarefilmic,someofthemcreatedreamscapes.”
Peedomknewthatshewantedsomekindofnarrative
voiceinthefilm.Yearsearlier,shehadreadMacfarlane’s
2003 bookMountainsoftheMind–afascinating
investigation into our emotional and imaginative
responsestomountains,andhowthathaschangedover
