Damien Collins, the builder and founder of
Project Logic, was keen to work with Cumaru
and see how it compares to other traditional
and common Australian hardwoods.
“One of the most appealing things about
Cumaru is that it has an interesting grain
pattern and because of its interlocked nature of
the grain, it catches the light in different ways
from different angles,” Collins says. “[Porta
offers] a nice wide, thick board. It provides very
good coverage and there was zero waste. We
had absolutely nothing to throw away on this
job. There were no knots in it, there were no
problems.”
Ben Chadwick, the carpenter who worked
on the installation, said “Cumaru was a very
clean timber to work with ... it was a lot easier to
use [than other timbers] and I would be very
happy to work with it again.”
