HIGHLY COMMENDED

Shape, texture, colour and movement all combine to create this very atmospheric
study by Chris Carter, titled appropriately Cool Water. Chris used a Sony Alpha A900
D-SLR with a 28-70mm zoom.

WHEN FUJIFILM AUSTRALIA told us that the
X70 high-end compact – last year’s Fujifilm Showcase
grand prize – was being discontinued, we asked what
might be a suitable replacement for this year.
“Well,” they said, “Do you think somebody might
like to win an X-Pro2?”
After we’d picked ourselves up off the floor, they
added. “And how about we fit it with the much-
acclaimed XF 35mm f1.4 prime lens?”
Yes, Fujifilm Showcasers, this year’s grand prize
is an X-Pro2, one of the finest mirrorless cameras
you can buy right now... except if you win this year’s
comp, you won’t have to, will you?
There’s just two rounds left (so those of you who
have already won a round this year are sitting pretty)
so get those creative juices going and send in your
entries... remember that you can enter as many
times as you like too.
The X-Pro2 combines classic rangefinder styling
with all Fujifilm’s latest imaging tech, including a 24.3
million (effective) pixels ‘X-Trans CMOS III’ sensor, the
powerful ‘X Processor Pro’ and the brilliant ‘Advanced
Hybrid Multi Viewfinder’ which gives you the best of
the optical and electronic viewfinders.
Furthermore, the X-Pro2 has an all-metal weather-
proofed bodyshell with a classical dial-based con-
trol layout. It can shoot at up to 8.0 fps and offers
Fujifilm’s latest ‘Film Simulation’ presets – ACROS
for fine-grained B&Ws and Classic Chrome for richer
colours. The XF 35mm f1.4 lens features aspheric
and ED elements and is equivalent to a 53mm in the
35mm format... the perfect standard lens.
When we reviewed the X-Pro2 in the May/June
2016 we concluded, “Fujifilm has come up with a
camera that’s big on both character and capabilities,
and which is very hard to fault as an overall package.
If you like cameras as much for what they are as
what they can do, the X-Pro2 is as good as it gets”.
How much do you want one?

FOURTH ROUND WINNERS

COMMENDED

Looking like a futuristic spaceship, this Manta ray was photographed by Gary
Martin, shooting underwater in Fiji. The tight cropping really gives a sense of being
right there. Gary used a Sony Cyber-shot TX10 waterproofed compact camera.
