HIGH NOTE

At a VIP event in a suite
at the Ritz the evening
before the show, Chanel
ambassador Willow
Smith (pictured with her
mum Jada Pinkett Smith)
treated the audience to
a rare performance,
singing and playing
guitar for “November
9th”, a song she wrote
after the US election.
With lyrics such as
“Don’t let the world put
out your fire”, it was
a special moment for
the 16-year-old. “It was
my first performance of
the song, and I was so
nervous. My heart was
pumping so fast!” she
said, adding of the song’s
motivation: “[I wanted] to
give every single human
in America, and on this
planet, something to
be hopeful for.”

WALK THIS WAY

LIKE A TRUE VISIONARY, LAGERFELD GATHERED SOME OF THE NEXT GENERATION’S IT-GIRLS (AND GUYS), MOSTLY INCREDIBLY COOL
DESCENDANTS OF FASHION, HOLLYWOOD AND MUSIC ROYALTY (PLUS A TWEED-CLAD PHARRELL), TO BRING STAR POWER TO HIS RUNWAY.

MIND YOUR HEAD

You might equate Maison Michel with
youth and newness given the milliner’s
popularity with street-style stars the
globe over, but last year the house
celebrated 80 years since Auguste
Michel opened his hat shop at 65 Rue
Sainte-Anne in Paris. Nowadays, there’s
no limit to the fanciful headpieces that
come out of the workroom, including
these sultry veils as modelled below by
Alice Dellal, daughter of Brazilian
former model Andrea Dellal. And to

FRONT ROW ONLY

One of the perks enjoyed by a VIP destined for the front row of a Chanel show entails being dressed in some of the house’s most sought-after pieces. But Chanel
beingChanel, the smart, successful women it invites aren’t the kind to play clothes horse. Instead, this line-up of free-thinkers put their own spin on the
looks they chose to wear (we love Stella Tennant’s tights, socks and sneakers ensemble), proving it’s not just about the clothes, but the women in them.‰
