Hey Braulio,
I struggle to break out of a body triangle. Do you have any
tips to deal with this position?
- Casper
Hi Casper,
This can be really tricky to deal with, especially when you
have someone with long legs who is reluctant to leave the
position at any cost. That said, this option works well for me.
Body Triangle Escape
- Your opponent is on your back with a solid
body triangle. They’ve got to the ideal position,
with their triangle on the opposite side to
that which is in contact with the mat. 2/3/4.
First off, start by straightening your left leg,
circling it backwards and over the top of your
opponent’s leg. 5/6. From here, you can catch
your opponent’s angle with your own foot as
pictured and start to apply pressure to the joint
by dragging your leg backwards. 7/8/9/10/11.
The pressure on your opponent’s ankle will force
them to re-adjust their body triangle. You must
catch them at the moment they attempt to open
their legs and control the hooks, before starting
to snake your hips towards the mat and escaping
the position.
