THE

IN MOST PEOPLE’S MINDS, chocolate is still
typically thought of as the “king” of unhealthy snacks
and a guilty pleasure that should be minimised or
omitted from the diet. And to be fair, when we look
at its basic nutrient profile, this attitude may seem to
make sense. After all, it is primarily composed of sugar
and saturated fat. However, it seems that, as with
many foods and nutrients, beliefs about chocolate
have ignored its complex make-up. In fact, it seems
that the humble cocoa bean from which chocolate
is made has more than a few tricks up its sleeve...
