Auniversitydegreewillhavetowaitfor16-year-oldQueenslanddancer,
Joshua Jack Price. Though he has accepted a place at university, for the
immediatefuturehehasdeferredhiscommencementtofocusonballet.
ThetalentedyoungdancerwillcommencestudieswiththeSanFrancisco
BalletinSeptemberthisyearonafullscholarship,awardedthroughhis
participationinthefinalsofthePrixdeLausanneearlierthisyear.
HissuccessatthePrixdeLausanneisjustoneofthehighlightsofthelast
fewyears.PricewonascholarshipattheSydneyEisteddfodin2016andwas
also awarded a Gold Medal and Audience Choice Award at the Genèe
International Ballet Competition.
Heiscertainlyathoroughandcommittedclassicalballetstudent,studying
theVaganovasyllabuswiththeAmandaBollingerDanceAcademyin
SouthportandRoyalAcademyofDancesyllabusandCecchettisyllabuswith
JaniceHealeatTheDanceCentreinBrisbane.Joshuahascompletedexams
acrossthesethreesyllabi,achievingDistinctionsorHonours.
He is excited about relocating to America and boarding at the San Francisco
Balletandislookingforwardtotheopportunitieswhichwillcomehisway.
Howeverhewillmisshisfamily,alongwithhisclassmates,friendsand
teachers,allofwhom“pushmeeverydaytobethebestthatIcanbeand
support every aspect of my journey”.
Hisgoalistohaveasuccessfulperformingcareer.Hesayshethinksdancers
are their own “biggest critics”, constantly striving for excellence. While excited
about the future and working hard, he is also aware of the importance of being
authentic and enjoying his journey.
