MAKE YOUR FIREPLACE
THE FEATURE
“A lot of people have that memory
of standing around a little fireplace
as a child,” says Melbourne-based
architect Claire Scorpo, who specified
the finishes in the living room of
Hart’s Farm B&B in Shoreham on
the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria
(see more on page 34). “Fireplaces
instantly create a social space and
a sense of warmth, and we like that
they bring people together.” To ensure
the freestanding, Australian-made
Nectre fireplace was the focus of the
room, the masonry wall behind was
painted in Porter’s Paints Liquid Iron,
$94.78 for 1 litre, with Instant Rust
solution, $31 for 500ml, over the top.
