Emma Raducanu is unsure whether
she will be fit for Wimbledon this
month after suffering an “absolute
freak injury” to her side during her first
competitive match on home soil since
winning the US Open in September.
The 19-year-old world No 11 retired
after seven games of her first-round
match against Viktorija Golubic in the
Rothesay Open at Nottingham, having
felt pain around her ribs during the first
game. It is the latest in a string of
injuries she has suffered in her first full
season on the WTA Tour.
“I think I pulled something. I’m not
sure what happened, an absolute freak
injury,” she said. “I was like, ‘This
doesn’t feel right at all.’ ”
Her serve was broken in that opening
game and, even though she broke the
Swiss world No 55 in the second game,

The future of professional golf was
plunged into fresh turmoil last night as
four major winners resigned from the
PGA Tour to join the Saudi breakaway.
Dustin Johnson, the former world
No 1 with career winnings of $74 million
(£58 million) from the PGA Tour, an-
nounced he had quit at a press event at
Centurion Club near St Albans, where
the $255 million LIV Golf Invitational
Series starts tomorrow. Sergio García,
of Spain, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl
Schwartzel have all joined him. Kevin
Na, the American world No 34, had
already resigned and Branden Grace, a
third South African, followed.
In another twist the USGA (United
States Golf Association) said last night
that Johnson, García, Phil Mickelson
and other Saudi sign-ups were free to

Gareth Southgate hailed Harry
Kane as “exceptional” after he
became only the second male
player to score 50 goals for
England last night when his
penalty two minutes from time
earned a draw with Germany in
the Uefa Nations League.
Wayne Rooney is the only other
player to have scored 50 England
goals and Kane is now only three
short of equalling his record of 53
for his country.
Jonas Hofmann had given
Germany a deserved lead after 50
minutes but with time running out
Kane went down in the box after a
clash with Nico Schlotterbeck.
Having initially waved play on,
the Spanish referee, Carlos del
Cerro Grande, reviewed the tackle
after advice from the VAR and
