OF THE YEAR
JOANY BADENHORST
PARALYMPIC SNOWBOARDER
Joany is a force to be
reckoned with on the
slopes. She’s the fi rst –
and to date only – female
Paralympic snowboarder,
and a fricken good one at
that. After winning the
2016/17 IPC World Cup
Crystal Globe in Snowboard
Cross, Joany is a strong
contender for gold at the
Paralympic Games in
South Korea next year.
TYLER WRIGHT
SURFER
It’s no surprise that Tyler
Wright is the reigning surfi ng
world champion. At the
tender age of 14, she was
the youngest-ever winner
of a Championship Tour
event and her career has
continued to make waves
ever since. Her incredible
skills in the surf earnt her
a nomination in the ‘action’
category of the famed
annual ESPY Awards.
CHARLOTTE CASLICK
RUGBY SEVENS PLAYER
At just 22 years old,
Charlotte is regarded
as one of the best players
in the world of women’s
rugby. She’s pacy and
durable, and has had a
stellar year playin’ ball. She
won the World Series title,
nabbed herself an Olympic
gold medal and has also
been recognised by World
Rugby, meaning she’s a
certifi ed legend.
RHIANNAN IFFLAND
CLIFF DIVER
A motherfl ippin’ CLIFF
DIVER, Rhiannan hasn’t
met a cliff she didn’t want
to jump off. Maybe. We
haven’t confi rmed. Anyway,
the girl’s got skills and had
a particularly stellar year,
including winning the 2016
Red Bull Cliff Diving World
Series. Fearless Rhiannan
didn’t even let a groin injury
stop her from competing
earlier this year.
EMILY DUGGAN
SUPERCAR RACER
When we think of fearless
females, Emily Duggan is
top of our list. She was the
fi rst female to compete in
the Kumho V8 Touring Car
series last year and already
has two pole positions, three
race wins and 10 podiums
under her belt this year –
and she’s not fi nished.
Emily is currently second in
the Series X3 Championship
but hungry for fi rst.
