FOR A PERTH GIRL
who is mostly self-taught,
Lauren Curtis sure is a wiz
when it comes to makeup.
We sit down with the super
vlogger and grill her on all
her fave makeup tricks and
can’t-live-without products.
You should take notes –
this is makeup know-how
you need in your life!

How does Lauren Curtis come up with
the inspo for her looks? ‘My followers
tell me what they’d like to see,’ says
Lauren. ‘I ask them and they’ll give me
feedback. Or I might get inspired by a
trend – like contouring or strobing

  • a celeb look, or seasonal makeup.’

TIP #1 Use micellar
water
‘I use Garnier Micellar
Water because it’s just so
effortless. It removes all
traces of makeup, leaves no
residue behind, and one
bottle lasts me forever!’

TIP #2 We can shun
primer
‘I actually don’t prime! I
have normal skin that holds
onto makeup well without
looking too dry or oily. I
do credit a lot of that to my
dermal therapist, Carmen
Anuriw – she’s known as
The Skin Fairy.’

TIP #3 One step to
#blessed skin
‘I use Cover FX Custom
Cover Drops. I find it only
takes a couple of drops to
build up a f lawless coverage,
which means I don’t have to
layer my face with makeup
to achieve the same effect.’

TIP #4 Powder power
‘I don’t like the feeling of
damp skin! I don’t want to
touch my face and have it
feel sticky and as though
my makeup will come off
onto my fingers. Setting it
with powder – I use Face of
Australia Translucent Loose

Powder from Priceline,
$11.95 – also locks my
makeup in all day.’

TIP #5 Fish faces
are good
‘I like to make a fishy face
when applying bronzer. It
helps to make the shadow
below your cheekbone
more prominent.’

TIP #6 Smiling helps
‘I find smiling helps locate
the apples of my cheeks
when applying blush. I also
lightly sweep my blush back
towards my ears and blend
it into my contour.’

TIP #7 Less is more
‘With both contour and
highlight, less is more; you
should just be emphasising
what’s already there.’

TIP #8 Insta-brows
‘I work with my natural
shape as much as possible.
I like to create a frame to get
both brows looking even,
before filling them in.’

TIP #9 L o o k w i d e - e ye d
‘I love champagne eye-
shadow tones for daytime
because it keeps my eyes
looking open and awake.’

TIP #10 Lips can go
(almost) nude
‘I ensure that my lips are
exfoliated beforehand and
apply a nude shade straight
to my lips. For day, I love
a lip balm or lip oil.’ #
