PARIS

Italian-Belgian creative
director Anthony Vaccarello’s
show offered his take on
uber-luxe versions of clothes
that women want to wear
every day. So you got ruffled
leather miniskirts, slouchy
corduroy parkas with fur
trim, and ruched boots that
are set to be the It shoe of
the season. Still, there were
one-shoulder tops, tough
draped leather dresses, a
sharp pleated cocktail skirt
paired with an ivory mohair
sweater, and any number of
after-dark body-con looks
in black velvet and (again)
leather made for the party
girls of Instagram.

VALENTINO

Who knew that Victoriana and the ’80s Memphis design movement could result
in such dreamy looks? In the hands of creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, this
meant spirited riffs on his signature romantic long dresses. Whether they were
high-waisted and high-necked or sporting plunging necklines, jazzy, funky
patterns and pastel hues pulled the looks together beautifully. A sprinkling of
sequins in lieu of a necklace, and a long coat over a high-necked dress extended
the pretty-prim vibe. We can imagine Wes Anderson calling in these looks for an
evening party scene in one of his movies.
