Most memorable shoot?
When I was assisting Carine
Roitfeld on a Pre-fall Chanel
campaign. Karl Lagerfeld was
shooting Kristen Stewart in
his famous library studio until
2am—it still feels like
a dream.
Most exotic place you’ve
shot in? In the Rothschild’s
château where they used to
have their surrealist balls with
Salvador Dalí.
First designer item? A grey
cashmere Chanel jumpsuit and
a blue-gold Versus by Versace
skirt from 1999 that my mother’s
former boss found in the back of
the warehouse she worked in.
MELISSA TWIGG
The London-based
journalist is happiest
reading novels, eating
cheese, trying on vintage
dresses in Paris or sitting
on a jeep somewhere in
Africa. Read her story
about the newest fashion
capitals on p.58
Heels or flats? I live in flats,
partly because I’m tall but also
because they let me wear the
over-the-top clothes without
looking like a Disney princess.
Least favorite trend?
Boyfriend jeans. So great
on models, but so deeply
unflattering on my body.
Go-to trick for looking pulled
together? Lots of red lipstick.
It works particularly well if
everything else stays somewhat
scruffy.
RICKY LO
Ricky is a Hong
Kong-based fashion
photographer whose
passion and talent lies
in taking high-impact
photographs. This month
he gets behind the lens for
our cover story with
Ports 1961 (p.22)
If you could go back in time,
which era would you travel
to? The Cretaceous Period to
see all the creatures that I have
never seen.
One item you can’t live
without? Emotion. It creates
you and is what makes you
unique. It motivates you to
explore and further your life.
Happiest when? Feeling loved.
