CHANDELIER CHIC
Worried that your selfies are becoming
generic? Help is at hand in the form of
shoulder-grazing earrings in gold or silver—or
even multicoloured gems. Not just for parties,
statement earrings this season are designed
to be worn day and night, with glittering ball
gowns or casual denim shirts—and always two
at a time. Not since the ’80s have ears been so
dazzling— though swap the bouffant hair and
heavy make-up for undone locks and
a clean face this time around.

It phone cases are the new It
bags. Fashion’s most fabulous
are often spotted waltzing in
and out of the shows with just
a front-row invitation and a
phone in their manicured hands.
But leaving the statement bag
behind means your mobile needs
to be looking runway-ready.
Enter the designer iPhone: From
Gucci to Fendi, international
brands are now selling cute,
creative cases for women whose
daily needs are fulfi lled by Uber,
Instagram and emails.

From the orange-
hued aviators of the
’70s to the bubble-
gum pink spectacles
of ’90s girl power,
tinted glasses have
been in and out of
fashion for decades.
Designers are now
bringing together
the best looks
of the past with
oversized rose-
tinted spectacles at
Alexander McQueen
and Miami Vice-style
multicoloured pairs
at Loewe, Gucci and
Prada. Wear with
loose locks and lots
of mascara.

During AW17 fashion
month, so many
editors and buyers
wore Balenciaga’s
over-the-knee
spandex knife-edge
boot that the shows
started looking like
’80s exercise classes,
albeit fabulously fashionable
ones. Every season has
an It shoe that defines the
look of the coming months.
Last year it was the Gucci
backless loafer. This year
it’s thigh-high, rainbow-
coloured spandex that
flatters the leg and elevates
any outfit.
