Ricky’s All Day Grill
Recognizes Franchisee
Jagdish Basran
Jagdish Basran’s career with Ricky’s
All Day Grill started in 1977, when
she joined the restaurant chain as a
dishwasher. Fast forward 40 years,
and Basran is the proud franchisee
of Ricky’s Evergreen location in Sur-
rey, British Columbia.
Basran was recently honoured
at a Ricky’s chain-wide franchisee
meeting in Vancouver, where she
received an achievement award
acknowledging her distinguished
career from franchise restaurant
developer Frank Di Benedetto, CEO/
Owner of FDF Brandz.
“We are delighted to honour Jag-
dish for her service and loyalty as a
true ambassador of the Ricky’s All
Day Grill brand,” said Di Benedetto.

“We are always pleased when we
are able to help employees realize
their dream to own their own busi-
ness,” said Senior Vice President Sta-
cey Hansson. “It is a true testament
to the Ricky’s brand.”
In 1982, Basran started working at
the location she now owns as a cook.
In 2008, she seized the opportunity
to invest as an owner, and hasn’t
looked back since.

McDonald’s Canada
Celebrates 50th Anniversary
To commemorate its 50th anniver-
sary, McDonald’s Canada re-opened
the doors to its first-ever Cana-
dian location in Richmond, British
Columbia this past June. The restau-
rant chain celebrated with nostal-
gic elements, including original uni-
forms, a vintage car, classic images
from the past 50 years, a throwback
to 1967 with a special one-day $0.
hamburger special, and the compa-
ny’s iconic Golden Arches.
“Returning the Golden Arches to
their original home is a very spe-
cial moment, and one that we were
happy to share with the community,
residents, and long-time guests,”
said Joe Guzzo, McDonald’s Rich-
mond Franchisee. “I am thrilled to
build on the rich history that this
location has by modernizing the res-
taurant and the experience for all
our guests.”

Kingston, Ontario Business
Owner is Midas’ #1 Canadian
Franchisee
Kingston, Ontario franchisee Jeff
Hall operates the two busiest and
most successful car care centres in
Midas’ 148-store Canadian chain,
thanks in large part to something
you might not expect: an extensive
tire inventory, and some 18-20 differ-
ent tire brands.
Hall, whose stores currently
rank in the top 10 for sales in Midas’
1,300-store North America system, is
building on the power and appeal of
the 60-year brand by offering time-

pressed motorists what they want:
one-stop, multi-service car care and
brand-name tires – including Michelin
and Goodyear – at sharp prices.
“With my focus on tires, I wanted
a retail presence on a main street,”
said Hall. “I want customers to think
of us when they think of tires, and
with our location, we take advantage
of drop-in business. We have the
showroom and the location to help
us sell, and customers can’t believe
the tire selection we offer.”

middle son. She currently manages a
network of 32 local owner-operated
kitchens, servicing more than 1,

“Through their leadership and

the community. We’re pleased to
honour them through this pro-
gram,” said Sheri Griffiths, Regional
Vice President, Business Banking,
GTA North and East Division, BMO
