Handy checklist
● Finding leash-free parks and
dog-friendly beaches requires
some forward planning. Always
check the local council website of
the area you wish to visit before
booking your holiday.
● Look up the details of the nearest
vet and have the number handy,
just in case. Make sure your pet’s
vaccinations are up-to-date and
consider tick control medication.
● Long journeys can be stressful
for animals. Make sure they are
comfortable and properly harnessed.
Take regular breaks to stretch legs
and drink some water – humans, too!

Family cabin, WA
In the past, holiday parks around the
country could be a bit hit and miss
when it came to bringing a pet. Now,
parks such as Beachlands Holiday
Park in Busselton, WA, are allowing
pets inside cabins. Sure, there are
stipulations, but it’s one paw forward
in the quest for more pet-friendly
holidays in Australia. At Beachlands,
dog-owners receive fresh barista-made
coffee delivered to their cabin door
every morning before they take the
puppy for a run along one of the
dog-friendly beaches. Beachlands is
one of the 90 BIG4 Holiday Parks
that are pet friendly. Visit big4.com.

behind the property.
