disappointing than pulling your gear out of

the washing machine to see that it has

beenshredded.Sohereisatricktosave

yourgearfrombeingchewedupandspat

outduringthedreadedspincycle.

1 REMOVE LINER

Startbyremovingthelinerfromyour

helmet.Nowcollectanyothergearthatis

prone to being shredded in the washing

machine, like goggles, gloves, neckbraces

and kneebrace pads.

2 PILLOWCASE

Placeeverythinginapillowcase.

Pillowcaseswithaziparethebestbutif

youonlyhaveanormalone,justtieaknot

intheendoruseacabletie.

3THROWITIN

Throwthepillowcasewiththegearinside

into the washing machine and then add any

othergearlikeyourpantsandjersey.If

your pants and jersey are caked in mud

thenhitthemwiththehoseoutonthelawn

beforeputtingtheminthewashing

machineoryouwillcopahugeservefrom

management.

GREASE IS

THE WORD

Do not use bleach – This is a harsh way

of cleaning anything and the

chemicals will strip the colour from

the fabric and destroy the leather on

the knees.

Do not use Napisan detergent – This

type of detergent will absorb all of

the oils from the leather on the knees

of your dirtbike pants. This will cause

the leather to dry up and become stiff.

Eventually it will cause them to crack

and disintegrate.

Do not tumble dry – Your gear gets

knocked around enough on the

bike, don’t beat it up any more than

you have to.

Do not iron – If you iron your

motocross gear you will most likely

melt it. Especially your jersey.

Do not use a pressure washer – Pressure

washers will destroy your gear. The

force will blow the natural oils out of

the leather knees on the pants. Just

use a hose.

Do not leave dirty clothes in your gearbag

for a week – If you leave mud on

anything for long enough it will stain

while perspiration destroys fabric.
