pass the Euro 4 homologation with the
carburetor. And for me that is better.
Carburetion is the two-stroke
mentality. It has simplicity and ease of
use and maintenance for the customer,
with less cost. Fuel injection will add
an extra cost on the bike.
“I don’t see the need to rush things
right now. I feel we made that mistake
by being the first four-stroke fuel-
injected bike on the off-road market. It
was all very new then and the customer
was afraid of the changes. So this is
why we will wait a little... The bike is
ready, the system is ready and we are
ready, but it is not yet necessary to put
it on the market.”

FOUR-STROKES
New for 2018
The four-stroke range has had a few
changes for 2018 starting with a new
WP46 shock for all models except the

  1. All models get a new, easier-access
radiator cap, new seat cover by Luna
Sella De La Valle, moulded-in UV
resistant graphics on 20% more flexible
    plastics, new water-resistant computer,
reinforced front light mount with new
    bulb, new rear-axle assembly with
Loctite to a higher torque, and new rim
    locks. Mechanical changes include a
    modified selector drum for smoother
shifting, and the 450 also has shift fork
rollers. They also receive a new,
    stronger (Dakar tested) gearshift
    selector spring.
    The 250 and 300 both get a new 300g
    lighter exhaust pipe collector with
better low-end response. They also have
a stronger exhaust silencer and new
    fuel-injection mapping for more power.
    A new radiator hose T-section
maintains a more even heat, which is
better for extreme enduro, and the fuel
pump is modified to prevent vapor
lock, while the fuel pump regulator is
also new. The 300 gets a new, higher-
compression piston that is paired to a
    new crankshaft.
    The 450 has a 500g lighter exhaust
system that produces more power, the
oil circuit system has been modified
and tested in Dakar, the clutch plate oil
jet mount has been reinforced, neutral
has been made easier to find, and the
distribution of the cam chain tensioner
in the cylinder head has been
redesigned. The valve guides and seats
have also been modified due to a new
    technology in machining, meaning the
cylinder head is now more reliable.
