These Yanomami women
decorate their faces for a
celebration using paste made
from onoto seeds. To make
the paste, the women pull
sticky red onoto seeds from
pods and crush the seeds with
their fingers. Black paste is
created by mixing ashes into
the crushed red seeds. The
sticks in the women’s faces
are worn daily.
