CHRISTMAS MAKES

beard. Attach gold bead at centre front
directly below hat edge. Concerned for
toddler safety? Stitch bead in place.

WREATHS AND STARMEN
Gather your supplies
Felt sheets, in desired colours; toy
fill; stranded embroidery cotton
in colours to suit; general sewing
supplies; Helmar Super-Tac Glue;
raw wood beads, about 25mm- and
8mm-dia.; coloured folley bells,
small; artist’s acrylic paints in brown
and white; artist’s paintbrush;
glitter ribbon, colour to suit; green
foliage wreath; green florist’s wire

Here’s how
STEP 1 Photocopy, as directed, then
cut paper patterns of Starmen and
hat diagrams. Cut 2 felt starmen
‘bodies’ and 1 hat for each ornament.
STEP 2 Stuffing each ‘body’ with
toy fill, whip stitch front and back
together, leaving ‘neck’ opening for
bead ‘head’. Dab glue on star tips
then thread each tip through a small
bead (beads represent hands and
feet). Test fit hat, adapt to fit, whip
stitch straight edges together, then
stitch a bell at tip. Glue head to body
at neck opening. Then glue hat to
head, and dot on 2 brown circles for
eyes by dipping end of paintbrush in
paint then, with brush perpendicular
to bead, dot bead with paint. Finish
with a speck of white in each eye.
Glue glittery ribbon scarf around neck.
Attach starmen to wreath with loose
ends of florist wire wrapped twice
around and directly above each hand.
