CIRCULAR THINKING
THE other day I had a thought train, and it all
stemmed from Chris Marechal’s Mustang (SM,
Mar ’17) and the Optima Ultimate Street Car
Invitational. How good would it be if such an
event existed here? At the moment, most of
the focus in Australia is on burnouts and drag
racing. With the exception of the driving events
at Summernats, there is very little in the way of
circuit racing to test a car’s performance. But
just imagine the top cars from Summernats,
MotorEx, etc, in a time attack competition? It
would be a great way to test and prove all the
talented engineering work carried out by our
craftspeople! We already have some great pro
touring-themed cars ready to go.
It could even lead to cars being built to the level
of Chris’s ’Stang right here!
