Mooneyes Corvette.
“I had followed Bill
Warner when he
raced a cut-down ’34
coupe and I remember
being at Windsor
RSL Speedway and
Mooneyes turned up.
It had an aerofoil wing
on the top, and I went:
‘What the hell is this
thing?’ I’d never seen
anything like it. I fell in
love with the car and
wherever Billy raced, I
went and watched”

One of Bob’s current
projects is the #53
McGee Racing Cams
Holden, built in the 60s
by Ray Redding with
the help of Hedley and
Phillip McGee. Based
on the Kurtis Kraft
design, the car ran an
injected sideplate six
and was fast from day
one. Pictured above is
‘Leadfoot’ Len Brock
behind the wheel at
Sydney Showground.
“Ray Redding only
raced it for a couple
of seasons at the
Showground,” says
Bob. “I didn’t know that
Brocky had driven it;
this is news to me!”
