Perfect balancePaul has already hit the ball here, but you’d never know. It looks incredibly quiet and stable; there is certainly no excessive opening of his hips, something which can pull the putter off line. For a simple way to improve your lower body stability, head to the practice green and hit putts standing on one leg. If you can do it without losing balance, stability will improve.
Hands unitedPaul’s two thumbs are side by side on the handle, almost in a prayer position. It’s a grip that sees the two palms directly facing each other, and because this stops one hand dominating it can be an effective way to get your hands working as a unit and eradicating any tendency to flick with the lower hand. Note that this grip needs a fatter putter handle.
