KITCHEN TIP

EASY JUICE
The Clever Dick Juicer is ideal for lemons, limes,
oranges and grapefruit. You simply screw the juicer
into the middle of the fruit and then squeeze the
juice straight into a glass. Another great
feature... if you don’t need all the juice
at once, you can simply flip down the
lid and place the fruit back in the
fridge until you need it again!

Healthy Info
Avocados contain
monounsaturated fat,
which can help reduce
cholesterol levels when
it replaces some of the
saturated fat in a diet.
However, the kilojoules
add up quickly: 1/2 a
small avocado equals
440 kilojoules. Still, its
fibre content of 2 grams
per ½ avocado slows
digestion, so you’ll feel
fuller for longer.

and Avocado Toast on

Picking
When selecting an
avocado, be mindful
of when you want to
eat it. Gently press the
top of the avocado to
test for ripeness. If it’s
quite firm it will be
ready in a couple of
days. So, if you are after
an avocado to eat the
same day, make sure to
pick one that feels soft
when gently pressed.
Storage

  • Store unripe
    avocados at room
    temperature until they
    reach your preferred
    ripeness.

  • Place a ripe whole
    avocado in the fridge
    because that will help
    to maintain its ripeness
    for 2-3 days until you
    are ready to use it.

  • A cut avocado should
    be sprinkled with
    lemon or lime juice,
    wrapped in plastic wrap
    and stored in the fridge.
    Eat within 1-2 days.
